Dr. Chris Kempshall is a public historian and author who specialises in the First World War, the portrayal of history in computer games, and the use of history in the Star Wars franchise. He has consulted for museums in Britain and France and several computer game developers. Chris has also consulted for – or been interviewed by – international media including the BBC, France24 and CNN. He is passionate about building links between computer game developers and cutting-edge historical research. Having published widely academically, his most recent book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire is an ‘in-universe’ history book published in 2024 by DK. It has repeatedly been a bestseller on Amazon and met with critical acclaim within the fandom.
